      04 / MODULATORS

      Three ways to move.

      Every modulator patches into anything on the rack — including each other. Eight of each, twenty-four slots.

      LFO

      Five shapes, free in Hz or locked to the host, in triplet or dotted time.

      • Rate — How fast it moves. Host-locked by default, free in Hz with SNAP off.
      • Depth — How far it pushes whatever it is patched into.
      • Shape — The wave it runs: sine, triangle, square, ramp or sample-and-hold.
      • Sync — What RATE is measured in: Hz, triplet, straight or dotted.
      The LFO modulator panel: rate and depth knobs, a waveform display and three outputs.

      Randomiser

      Stepped, smooth or drunk random motion, clocked or free.

      • Rate — How often it rolls a new value.
      • Chaos — How far a roll can land from the one before it.
      • Glide — How far it slews into each new value instead of jumping.
      • Mode — STEP jumps, SMOOTH glides, DRUNK wanders.

      Envelope Follower

      The level of what you play, turned into movement.

      • Rise — How fast it climbs when your signal gets louder.
      • Fall — How fast it lets go once the signal drops away.
      • Sensitivity — Trims the level going into the detector, for quiet or hot sources.
      • Amount — How hard it pushes, and which way; left of centre it ducks instead.

      Four leads into one input

      You can now stack up to 4 cables into the same modulation CV input, each one you drop in shares an equal amount of effect on the destination's movement as the others until you say otherwise. This goes for modulators to effects, or even effect to effect modulation routings.

      A depth per lead

      Right clicking on a destination's CV input allows you to control the depth per cable independent of any others, so with up to 4 cables per input you can decide which gets priority and even select between 3 different chaos modes for each cable to randomise their depth further.

      I’m really thinking that this is one of the best plugins that I got my hands on, to be honest. I’m always on the lookout for new sounds and new plugins. I’ve been buying a lot of stuff and testing out everything, you know. There’s so many new plugins right now, there’s some cool stuff out there, but most of them sound the same.       Before you ask.

      Which formats and systems does it run on?
      VST3 and Audio Unit. macOS builds are universal, so they run natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel; Windows is 64-bit VST3. There is no AAX build, so Pro Tools is not supported.
      Do I need an internet connection or an iLok?
      No iLok, and no dongle of any kind. You will need to be online once, to activate: you get a licence key by email when you buy and paste it in on first run. After that it is verified on your own machine, and the plugin never needs a connection again.
      Is this a modelled emulation of one specific piece of hardware?
      No. The modules are built in the spirit of an era of modular and polysynth design rather than copied from any one instrument — a CS-80-inspired ring modulator, a BBD-style delay, a ladder-response filter. It is a homage, not a clone, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by any hardware manufacturer.
      How does the patching work?
      Every module has an input and an output on the front panel. Drag a cable from any output into any input and the signal follows the cable, so the order of the chain is whatever you wire rather than a fixed left-to-right path. Modulation is patched the same way: every knob and fader has a mod input under it, and you can stack up to four leads into one — each with its own depth, set by right-clicking the input — so an LFO, an envelope follower and a randomiser can all move the same control. An effect's own output can drive another effect's modulation too.
      Will it eat my CPU?
      Load scales with how much of the rack you have running — a couple of modules costs less than a full two-page chain — so you can keep it as light or as heavy as the track needs. The plugin reports its latency to the host, so your DAW compensates automatically.
      What happens when there is an update?
      Free lifetime updates are included with your licence. Whenever a new version is released you will be notified inside the plugin and by email, and the update is yours at no additional cost.
